The 2011 BO-WHOOP LONG RANGE Shoot came to a dramatic close, late last evening, just as the sun began to fade beneath the Endless Mountains of Susquehanna County, PA. The caption, for this, 4th annual contest, should read; "Pigeons in The Park". After 2 grueling days, battling high winds, intermittent heavy rains and ever-changing light conditions ( reminiscent of ol' Ansley's days, out at Interstate Park) and of course, hellishly long, tough targets, the final results showed a 4-way tie for the lead.
The rules clearly state "NO SHOOT-OFFS", so the AHFCA BOD judges, quickly calculated, forward long run. That narrowed it
down to two. Next, they tallied reverse long run and you guessed it Fox fans, still a dead heat, at two. Frank Srebro and last year's winner, George Griscom, were tied for the lead, both having broke, 5/10 of the extremely difficult targets. It would now come down to a draw, to decide the 2011 BW Champion, but not so fast. The gallery of 100 plus, now a bit impatient from the earlier, 2 hour rain delay, began to chant; "SHOOT-OFF", "SHOOT-OFF", "SHOOT-OFF".
The judges, quickly huddled and consulted with both shooters as to their preference to decide the outcome. Both agreed to a head-to-head shoot-off, based on total targets scored. A coin toss decided the shooting order. Srebro won the toss and elected to shoot first. Srebro hoisted his big 32" ,straight grip Super Fox up into the box and dropped a pair of his favorite pigeon loads into the chambers. When the "dead-shot" cleared, Frank had broken 1/10 targets. Griscom would need a pair to win.
George, shooting his trusty Sterly, owned since his teenage days, missed the first two targets. On the second pair, he crushed the screaming L to R midi and made a spectacular 65+ yard break, on the #2 outgoing target, to claim his 2nd straight BW Championship. Much more news and pics to follow, in the coming days but a hearty congratulations to both of these gutsy competitiors!!!!!

Re: NEWS FLASH: SUDDEN DEATH at HIDDEN HOLLOW
Absolutely great event....thanks to Steve and Paul for manning the Bo-Whoop for many hours. Great targets....Saturday was perfect...much less wind and the targets were so good lookin. Had I to do it over again I would have played for score rather than practice over and over....I was a little busy at my tables and couldnt spend enough time shooting and it was over before I knew what happened. That damn second target of the pair busted my hump....just needed ONE more.
On a personal note, I was glad that I finally handled the ol XHE well enough to break a decent score......we all knew the gun could do it, just not the operator.
Hey Jolly, nice shooting......what a treat to have you out there and to shoot "together" after all these years.
