Very Early Fox- What have I got?

Post by mumbolia »

I am not familiar w/ Fox shotguns at all. I picked up what appears to be a Philadelphia Arms Company early Fox 12 gauge double in VG condition except for the addition of a recoil pad. SN 327. What have I got and what's its' approx value?
Thanks in advance!

Looks nicer than a lot of the PAC A-grades that have been posted on the site lately. They apparently were only made in 1904 and 1905. The highest serial number I've recorded is 1845, but I've heard reports of guns into the 26xx range, but I've not seen any pictures to back them up. Dealers asking prices for old A-Grades seem to be from $1000 on up to any fanciful figure they seem to be able to imagine.
