Sterlingworth 2 barrrel set
Sterlingworth 2 barrrel set
I have a sterlingworth (serial 142090) with 2 sets of barrels and fore-ends that all have the same serial number. However, the 30inch set are stamped Utica, NY and the 26inch set say Chicopee Falls, Mass. When the heck was this all made and why would the barrels be made at two differnt locations. Thanks

Re: Sterlingworth 2 barrrel set
Jaymz,
Your Sterlingworth was made with the Utica barrels. It was sent back to have the 26 inch set added after Savage moved from Utica to Chicopee Falls. Your gun was built around 1936 or 37. You can send for a factory letter to find out the exact date it was shipped. Just mash the link on the home page the cost of the letter is $30.00. Foxes were built in Utica from 1930 until the start of WW2. I think they were repairing them until the early 60's.

If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck

Now that I know when and where it was built, any ideas as to the increase in value (percentage wise) having the second barrel set would add??
