1910 pin gun

Post by idler »

I discovered that the very end of the upper tang of my 1910 "circa" pin gun was broken!! The break is across the tapped hole in the rear of the upper tang.
Can this be erpaired? If so who can do it?
Thank you.

seems obvious but worth saying... I would not shoot the gun like that. Probably a good say to do more damage, most likely to the stock.

I would probably turn to Dewey Vicknair... it can likely be welded, dressed down, re-engraved, hole likely re-drilled, and rehardened. Not sure if they can harden just a small area or will need to do the whole receiver... Take some really good pictures, call Dewey and discuss the issue and email him the pictures, he should be able to give you a "likely" answer that way. That said, if its a sterlingworth, it might be worth hanging it above the fireplace, or parting it out and finding another or finding a less expensive gunsmith but ... you get what you pay for...
Cheers!
