BO-WHOOP SHOOT CORRECTION - DARYL CORONA

Post by Silvers »

Last month while at the Vintage Cup, I was informed of a possible error in the scores we reported for the Fox Collectors Bo-Whoop Long Range Shoot held on June 4-6 at the Great NE Side by Side Championship

AHFCA member Daryl Corona of Maryland asked me to check on his score, as he thought he had broken 5 of our 10 targets, and thus should have tied with Mike Campbell of NY for third place. Mike was reported for 5 targets broken, and he was the only shooter we reported for 5 targets. I told Daryl we had access to the score cards from the shoot and I would check to verify his score(s).

Today I was able to run down our score cards and the master score sheet, and found that Daryl had indeed broken 5 targets, and that the station referee had recorded his score of "5" on the scorecard. However the number "5 " was not written too legibly on the master score sheet, and it looks like a "3". The master sheet was used to determine the place cuts and accordingly Daryl was not given credit for his third place tie with Mike Campbell. Unfortunately this error was compounded when Daryl's name was not included in our public draw for the three Lewis payouts. There were six names in the hat and three shooters were drawn for payouts of $40.00 each.

Daryl and I talked today and I apologized for this clerical error on behalf of the AH Fox Collectors. Mr. Corona is a real gentleman and he told me to forget about issuing a correction, but I said I really want to do that here. He shot well on very difficult targets and should be recognized!

Of course there's no way of knowing if Daryl's name would have been drawn for one of the three payouts, but based on a 50-50 probability of being picked I have committed an equivalent credit of $20.00 toward one future signup at our 2011 Bo-Whoop Shoot or our 2011 Ansley H Fox Championship.

I wanted to explain this to our shooters, web users and members. But more importantly to share my discussions with a friend, gentleman and an excellent shooter who is a credit to the Fox Collectors Association.

Congratulations Daryl and bravo to Frank and the AHFCA for making an unfortunate lemony situation into lemonade.
