ringing barrels

Post by ctrout »

What does it mean when people talk about "ringing barrels"? Why is this significant? Does it only have meaning for Foxes? All S X S guns or should I try it with my O/U too?
Are you going to do something or just stand there and bleed?

RINGING BARRELS

Post by George Lander »

Hanging the barrels of any SxS or O&U on a cord or finger on the underlug and striking gentley with a wood dowel produces a bell like tone if the top & bottom rib is tightly soldered to the barrels. If either rib is loose the sound would be a dull thud.

Just My Humble Opinion......George
