Early B grade restoration

Post by Silvers »

I want to share some pics of work being done to restore an early B grade I found last year. Original buttstock was broken and not repairable. Dan and Anthony at PGS Services are doing up a new buttstock to match the original one insofar as possible. Wood is still being worked prior to checkering and its grain is enhanced with rubbing alcohol for these photos. Stock was made from a blank supplied by PGS. Note the side view of the excellent heading work in the last photo. I visited with them yesterday and the dimensions are "dead nuts" as I specified. Also check out the piece of curly maple under the new B stock. I understand someone is in queue for a custom rock maple stock. Silvers

Very nice Frank. Original Silvers pad? What other work is in store for this beauty?

Those stock cheeks are certainly much more nicely profiled then that Abe Chaber (?) restocked DE-Grade in the latest Julia's Auction!!
