Maybe, sort of, but not really...

But pretty cool anyway.

I've always liked CSMC RBL's. I had a 16 and 20 gauge and the Professional slug gun for a while. With all the Fox 16's that I have I decided to let the 16 go a few years ago. It was just "clunky" compared to my Foxes.

I kept the 20 and I liked it, but my son used it more than me because I'm a double trigger guy and always thought that maybe someday I'd make a trade or somehow finagle a deal that ended up with me getting one with a double trigger.

So, when the Savage/CSMC "Fox" 20's came out I thought like a lot of us here - No Way! Not even close to a Fox! But my reptilian brain started to think that with prices coming down on them maybe it kind of sort of would look better than an RBL and with double triggers to boot!

So, I devised a plan to justify buying a Savage/CSMC Fox 20 establishing the criteria that would make me pull the trigger.

It had to fit me well enough and the barrels of my CSMC Professional slug gun had to snap on. I saw the full custom rifled SXS Fox that Dewey Vicnair did for a customer on his website and pined for it and it got me thinking that I needed the Kmart version. (My RBL 20 barrels did not fit the Professional at all and vice versa.)

I finally found one new in the box that the slug barrels fit like a glove. This may be the first Savage/Fox/CSMC Professional slug gun in existence. I might just have to dedicate this year's deer season to making sure that a "Fox gets the Game"!

Roger,

A very good friend of mine had that slug gun built by Dewey starting with a 12ga SW of course and let me tell you that thing kicked like a mule. It was a thing of beauty though.

I drooled when I saw Dewey's project on his web site. It was a beutiful job that he did. Most slug guns kick pretty good. Slugs in general kick hard, physics at work. Some guns shed recoil better than others like semi's or ported barrels but you get the whole enchilada with a SXS.

I'd guess it was pretty expensive to put that project together.

There is no practical value to using the CSMC Savage receiver except its has double triggers, which might avoid a potential malfunction with the single trigger on the Professional. If weight were an issue, like on a plane, you could just take both sets of the barrels together to shed a few pounds. There is the potential cool factor though and that has to count for something.
