Does anyone have familiarity with these individuals?
Going through some old Fox correspondence this evening I came across two names I’m not familiar with.
1. Ed Beaulieu
2. Bill Baines
I know Bill Baines wrote an article about the G Grade Fox commissioned by Savage Executive Vice President H. Stewart for The American Shotgunner. I know nothing else about either one of them. Asking out of curiosity. Thanks - Brett

Is that 35031 which was pictured on pages 238 & 239 of McIntosh's book? What issue of The American Shotgunner was the article in?I know Bill Baines wrote an article about the G Grade Fox commissioned by Savage Executive Vice President H. Stewart for The American Shotgunner.

Yes, that is the gun referenced in the article. I do not know what issue it was printed in. I only have a photo copy of the article. Thanks

Here is a pic of the photo copy of the article. Maybe someone has access to this article and can tell us what volume/issue it was in. Brett

The article says it was on Don Criswell's list. It goes back a ways. Is the date of the article possibly on the other side of the clipping? I assume a photocopy wouldn't include the back of the page.

That is after 35031's second or third restock. On page 240 McIntosh says a California dealer put it up for sale in December 1986 for $125,000.

Bret it appears to be in an 8"x11" format from the picture, is that true?
That Publication was originally in full News Print size, it would narrow the search if we can narrow down this for me.
Thanks, Will

No date on the clipping/photocopy and it’s only one sided. I have some other paper/documents I’ll see if there is any other items referencing this gun. I re-read through MM’s book on this gun. Wonder where it resides today?!

McIntosh is probably referring to Criswell when he mentions a California ad in December 1986. That should be close to the date of the American Shotgunner. A piece of cake if you save such stuff.

Re: Does anyone have familiarity with these individuals?
The American Shotgunner article was in the January 1987 issue. The Criswell ad for the gun was in his November 1986 and probably the December 1986 mailer. I don't know whether McIntosh's book, or the Criswell ad came first, but they shared identical information. The AS article mentions that Criswell had sold the gun. Apparently, Bill Baines wrote the "Investment Guns" column for Frank Kodl for a time.

Thank you for narrowing down the time line on the article. Very interesting. Brett

AS was a wonderful publication. Kodl covered collector gun values, live pigeon shooting and other subjects not covered by other gun and outdoor publications.
