Dan Lefever went thru three partnerships before striking off on his own.Here’s an example of a gun he built while partnered with John Nichols between the years of 1876-1878.

They are some unique & interesting guns,
I became owner of an 8 gauge built in this same time frame.
I would love to score 10 & 12 gauge, but I've not encountered the Nichols & Lefever guns very often.

They are 34",
this is the lightest 8 gauge I've owned and recoil is more noticeable, but the gun is quicker in the hands.
