Fox Fishing Reels - how to take apart and service
This YouTube video may be of interest to A.H. Fox Fishing Reel collectors:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-hpof1NapSA
FYI - As per MM's book - Fox bought the John Lauterbach Co, who manufactured fishing reels in 1927 and the first reels sold by Fox were marked A.H. Fox Gun Co.
In 1930, Fox started marking their fishing reels as Fox Co.
The fishing reel business was later sold in November 1932, to Ocean City Manufacturing Co of Philadelphia; thus, Fox apparently made reels from 1927 thru 1932.

Did Fox make any smaller reels, like bait-casting size?

In an earlier thread on Fox reels, Researcher kindly posted a photocopy of a Fox reel catalog, which I will repost below.
I have collected most of the original Fox Gun Catalogs from 1905 to 1939, but have never seen an original Fox Reel Catalog (or a Fox Fly reel) in the flesh . . .

I paid a lot more than I should have for some of these at gun shows in the days before ebay!!
I got that photocopy of the reel catalog from the Headricks. I suppose it went to Dana when he bought their catalog collection and was subsequently in the Julia's Auction.

Thanks, y'all. I'd like to get a Blue Ribbon and an old steel rod and catch a few bass on it. I can cast one. I learned on a Pflueger Supreme, before they became "free spool". It requires an "educated thumb".

Like Dave I paid more for some of my reels than I should have, especially the more often encountered 250 Yard Saltwater Reel. Here’s some pics of 300 Yard Free Spool that I have new in the box.Researcher wrote: ↑Fri Dec 16, 2022 1:34 pm I paid a lot more than I should have for some of these at gun shows in the days before ebay!!
