Rib Matting Machine now in operation

Post by DGKaas »

I just got off the phone with Gary Donovan of the Gunworks of Central New York. Gary has picked up the pieces of the demise of Andy's Custom Shop and has Andy's ex-Winchester rib matting machine now in operation. Gary has done some barrel work for me before. The matting machine has both a Winchester and a Fox die with it. The latter allows the replication of the Fox factory matting. This is a great asset when fitting NOS Fox barrels to exisiting guns. There are still quite a few of these barrels sets left over from the Bielen stash of parts liberated from the Savage factories in Utica/Chicopee Falls. Andy did this job for me on many occasions with great success and I would expect Gary to do it just as well.

Gary sent me a sample piece of rib they matted and it looks great --- as good as out of the factory. He also hired henry, Henry did most of the work at Andy's as well as operating the rib matting machine. FWIW
