restock resource

Post by greyreefer »

gentlemen--new to your forum and really happy to have found it-I have owned and hunted Foxes for many years here in the West and have created quite a few converts among my friends-I'm just a working guy, but like so many that get the "bug" I have more guns than I need-I bought a nice Sterlingworth 20 GA some time ago that is about an inch too short for me, with the thought that when I got "ahead" of the game I would restock it--sold a couple Grangers on another site and am now ready-would really appreciate recommendations on a first rate craftsman to do this work-all input greatly appreciated

My 50 years of experience tell me that going less than first class will always haunt you. Once the gun has been finished, you'll always think, how much better this would have turned out IF I had spent a few more dollars. I know, I never went first class many years ago was was always aware the piece wasn't top notch as everyone else was that knew quality work. I reccomend Mr. Doug Mann of this and other boards ! Doug has done other pieces for me and is starting another gun for me about now. FWIW Ken

Hello,

If finding a replacement stock is an option you may want to consider this route. Occasionally stocks will pop up. There's an A-grade set on the DGBBS right now. Maybe someone who knows Fox mechanics well will be able to confirm if this is a viable option. http://www.doublegunshop.com/forums/ubb ... Post112609

This stock, forend and tg are sold to me. My 20 ga parts gun fell thru so if someone wants this, let me know and we'll see if a deal can be made.

Wenig's

Post by Vol423 »

I just called Wenig's a few weeks ago about restocking a CE 12 gauge. They quoted around $1300 for a new fore-end and stock in wood to match factory figure. Wenig has done good work for me in the past, although I think they leave the wood a little fat. Maybe they'd keep it thin if you really pushed it.
