Newest "after hours" project

I have not yet decided if it will be a .22/.410 combination gun or a .22 and .410 two-barrel set but it will be the little sister to the sideplate gun. Here are some photos so far. The large frame is a 12 gauge Sterly. The small frame is scaled to 62 percent of 12 gauge size, however the finished gun will be full-sized.

Cute! In that Tony G. has already done the .22 rf double rifle thing on a tiny Fox frame, try something different. Maybe a 9mm rf shot or a .22 WMR.

Will it remain a mini-Sterlingworth with side plates or go out for some exotic "scratching"?

It will have the same border engraving as the 12 gauge sideplate gun that I built previously.

Dewey, very cool. Rebated frame and breech balls are already profiled in high grade style. I assume you're using a verical mill for this prototype. Would be nice to see it set up for a CNC center down the road. Just dreaming.... a 410 Fox style gun that won't cost and arm and an leg? I assume you'll tig on the tang once the action cuts are all made? Are you using mild or alloy steel, or something like A2?

OK let's see - two barrel set for 22 LR and 22 WMRF? Just kidding. Thanks for sharing this wonderful work.

You like those small bore Foxes, why don't you have Dewey make you one in .22, bored for bird shot. You could use it this September for those slow flying Georgia doves.[img][/img]

Dewey, I suggest something that "someone else" is not likely to have in his catalog. How about 25-20 and .22 Routledge smoothbore? Murphy

Best use for a .22 shotgun around here would be rat shot for carpenter bees, on the wing. Great sport in the late afternoon.

Here are a few more photos. The top tang is roughed out and ready to be welded. The floorplate is started and the frame is roughly shaped. The alloy is 1020, just like the full-sized Fox.

The top tang is welded and the breech screw is finished.
