Philadelphia Arms Gun #209

Post by eightbore »

I don't know if Dave has #209 on his list. It is a 28" A Grade bored full and full. It was sold at Allentown yesterday. It is missing a forend. Anyone have a PAC forearm or know how a Fox forearm can be fitted? I have not tried a Fox forearm on a PAC gun. I missed the opportunity to get contact information from the last fellow I saw with the gun.

Thanks Bill, didn't have #209 on my list. I presume a capped full pistol grip? I have a spare A-Grade Philadelphia Arms Co. forearm and most of the internals from serial number 1530 I snagged off ebay some years ago.

Bill, it would be easier to fit a Parker f/e. You would have to fit a pair of cocking lumps on the forend where it fits against the frame, other wise they are almost identical.

I have Philly arms #946 30" barrels, cant tell you about stock because all I started with was reciever and barrels. I made it into a straight grip and converted a Parker forend to fit. Start with a #2 frame parker forend, the dimension are dead nutz to the Philly frame, drill 2 holes in the forend tap and thread and cut the heads off two bolts, grind the bolt ends to a flat nosed vee.Install the bolts in forend without forend wood, adjust the bolts in and out until you get the correct contact with the cockers, grind the bolts off on the backside and loctite them in. I did this about 10 years ago and its still works perfect, you may have too fiddle around with the nose of the bolts to get them to cock at the same time but really not hard. The most critical thing is to drill the holes in the forend at the correct spot and angle. Good luck ,Steve

According to my records I first saw #1005 at the Chambersburg, PA, gunshow on 15 April 2000, when Ken Esterly had it with an asking price of $1200.
