Hausmann’s June 2025

Post by Maggiemollie »

Will be there. Also bringing 3 others (1 a SxS shooter of vintage SxS guns, and 2 who just like shooting clays). All looking forward to having fun and seeing what vintage SxS is all about. All plan to shoot the Bo Whoop and SBT event.

The Skyline is a mile or so west of downtown Tunkhannock and closer to Hausmann's via Meshoppen and PA 267, and also is good lodging for those coming to Rock Mountain's Northern Side-by-Side in July. It's not a high end chain hotel like Hampton etc in Tunk but offers reasonable pricing and is close to several good eateries. Over the past few years it's become a hub for SxS shooters at both events and I understand there's a patio aka veranda as called by some where the shooters can get together in the evenings for cigars and libations. I live in the area and never stayed there myself and this all is what I've heard from shooter friends. frank

Ron, looking forward to seeing you again, and thanks for bringing some new recruits. The more shooters the merrier, and these SxS shoots need more folks to attend to support the shooting venue owners/operators and keep the traditions going.
See ya in June.

You nailed it Frank. I have stayed there the last two years and good lord willing will be back there (reservation made). Not high end but large rooms and clean. Covered picnic area to the side where lies are swapped and adult bevages and cigars are consumed. I hit the local ice cream place every time I stay at the Skyline after dinner. Good Sundies.

PS. Only drawback is no ice machine. Most folks buy a bag and throw it in a cooler to go with the beverage of choice.

The 2 non SxS guys each just bought a CZ SxS to shoot.

I’ve stayed at Skyline the last 2 years and have zero complaints. Not a Four Seasons by any stretch of the imagination but it suits the purpose.

Nearby is Pomlei’s a pizza and pasta place. Samarios pizza right in the center of Tunk has good Old Forge style pizza (it’s a style all to its own). Curry’s Donuts is a nice place to stop in the morning.

I’m planning on attending this year as well. I have my reservation up in Vestal at the Quality Inn. I may have to check on the Skyline. Sounds like my kind of place. Thanks - Brett

I just found out that my reservation at the Quality Inn in Vestal, NY was cancelled as they are closing that hotel. Luckily the Skyline Motel still had rooms available and I got one booked there. Thanks for the info on this location/hotel.

Bring Bourbon or cigars or both. PS. They have no ice machine so plan accordingly. See ya there.

Directions to the NE Side by Side for those staying at the Skyline; there are alternates but this is the way I'd travel:

Turn right from the Skyline parking lot, drive to Meshoppen (about 6-7 miles), watch your speed going into Meshoppen, turn right onto Route 267 at the blinker light in Meshoppen, drive 12 miles on 267 to stop sign, turn right on 267N & 706E and go 1/2 mile to Village of Lawton (Gulf gas station and Flynn's Stone Castle store at intersection). Flynn’s is a good place to get ice, soda, smokes, etc. Ernie always has a good food vendor at the event.

Directions from Lawton: take 267N for 2 miles, watch for left turn onto Irish Hill Road SR #4015, drive about 3/4 mile on Irish Hill Rd. and bear right at the Y, continue on Irish Hill Rd. for 3 miles - watch for right turn onto Flynn Rd (beaver pond on left), drive 1.3 miles on Flynn Rd (dirt road) to Hidden Hollow. Large parking field on the right. Only vendor and show participant vehicles are allowed past the gate.
