Two BOD contemplating whether a 32" Sterly 20 gauge would show up in the Fox booth at the Southern late that day. PS. It did not although a 30 " Sterly 20 gauge made by Savage with Philly features did show up and was shot by a new member.

PS. Brett and Jeff in the Photo.

Some thoughts from the booth.

First of all, special thanks to Mike Bince (Bunce), Tom Tutwiler, and Kevin McCormack for manning the Booth. Their constant presence in the booth made this year’s Southern a success. There was constant traffic/chatter and we signed up 4 or 5 new members.

We saw some nice guns. One gentleman brought in a drop dead gorgeous 20 ga. CE. Wow! Also, several Sterlingworths that were “tight as a tick”, especially Roy’s 12 ga. Brush Gun.

One interesting item I would like to share…. A nice guy showed us several pictures on his phone and asked for our thoughts. He had found a collection that was going to be sold and it included 3 Fox guns. There was a Gough era 12 ga. A, a Gough era 12 ga. B, and a very early C with the scroll/banner style engraving.

Here’s what was interesting. On the A, the water table and barrel flats were stamped “SECOND”. My life experience leads me to believe that the quality was less than perfect, but I don’t know if that is what the folks at Fox meant. However, I do recall a similar discussion in a previous post (serial look up number 18147 Feb 2025). After the guy left, I looked up the card and sure enough, “SECOND” was stamped in bold letters on the card. Interesting….

Great job Jeff et al at the booth. Nice to meet Mike B and see old friends again. Hope to see all at Ernie's in a month.

Kudos to Jeff, Tom, Kevin and others for having a great display and engaging new and current members and others at the booth. The theme of the booth was great and the location is excellent! It was great to catch up with everyone and talk Fox guns!!

Another highlight of the weekend was the Fox Rendezvous that Craig Larter orchestrated on Friday afternoon. We had appx. 20 Fox guns shooting at the Five Stand with both current and brand new members shooting. It was GREAT!

As always, great to be a part of it! Always nice to meet new prospective members, causal browsers as well as the remaining "Old China Hands" of the early days. This is the even to attend (as is Hausmann's in early June) to see some "walkabout" Fox guns we have never seen before. Most of them are quite ordinary ('Pops old Sterlingworth") but occasionally we get a glimpse of Halley's Comet - like the awesome FE 12 ga. with the gold "wedding ring" inset at the hinge pin at Hausmann's a couple of years ago, and the spectacular DE+ 20 ga. Special 2-barrel set at the Southern just last year. Seeing these jewels of Foxdom makes these trips worthwhile in themselves.

Jeff's new booth theme of "Hunting/Using/Foxes in the Field" with guns displayed with accompanying photos and mini-stories is a winner. I didn't put it together fast enough (I"m OLD now!) to include my entry but I"ll post it here for posterity: A limit of mallards taken with my 32" HE 3" MAG (Srebro certified!) in 2012 in the Lac St. Pierre region of Quebec, Canada, about 1.5 hrs. NE of Montreal. Kevin
