Rifle barrel

I have a fox sterlingworth 16 with 24” barrels I use for woodcock that has been reconditioned I have found a barrel tht was cut down to 18 1/2 tha I was thinking of having made to a 30.06 double rifle has anyone trued this and will the gun handle the pressure or any advise on where to purchase a rifle barrel for this gun

30/06 has way too high a service pressure for the low carbon steel Fox frame and besides its rimless cartridge isn’t easily compatible with the simple Fox extractor. I’ve seen Foxes converted to relatively low pressure rimmed rifle cartridges like the 45/70 Gov’t using steel barrel liners but that makes for a very heavy gun even on a 16ga; and barrel convergence can be an issue at anything beyond fairly short range and with no easy way to adjust points of impact. As an old girlfriend used to say “headache material”. frank

Thanks just had a idea of a rifle barrel may have to check out Winchester 21
