Post by Foxnut »

Excited to announce that the AHFCA will be sponsoring a side challenge at the Society of American Side by Side Shotguns (SASSS) Spring Classic Shoot. The shoot will be held Saturday, March 22nd at the MultiLakes Conservation Club near Commerce, MI.

We have billed this as the “AHFCA High Gun Award”. The rules are as follows;

1. All rules of the SASSS Spring Classic Sporting Clays shoot apply.
2. Winners must be shooting a Philadelphia or Savage era A.H. Fox shotgun or a CSMC A.H. Fox shotgun.
3. In case of a tie winner will be decided by a single station shoot off.

First Place - $50.00
Runner Up - $25.00

So….if you are in the Michigan, Ohio, Indiana or from anywhere else come out and have fun shooting with your Fox!

Today’s the day! Looking forward to see who will be the AHFCA High Gun and Runner Up at the SASSS Spring Classic SxS Shoot! Chance of rain this a.m. w/clearing skies as the day goes on w/a high temp of 38 and a NW 10-15 mph wind should make for some challenging targets! More to come. Brett

And the winners are.....Congratulations to Mark Beniak for winning the AHFCA High Gun award and to the SASSS Master himself David Olshansky for winning the AHFCA High Gun Runner Up award at the 2025 SASS Spring Classic Shoot! Mark shot a 40 and Dave shot a 35 on a very challenging 50 target course. Congratulations to both of them for their fine shooting with A.H. Fox guns. Way to go!

Along w/the AHFCA High Gun Awards SASSS donated a large Fox patch to Mark as the winner as well. Kudos to SASSS for the donation and the fun filled shoot. A total of 71 registered shooters took part in the festivities yesterday along with a number of side games also.

Mark was shooting a 1923 AE 12ga w #2 weight 30” bbls
The gun was restocked to his measurements with an extra inch on the splinter forearm adding an ebony tip with upgraded English walnut and checkering to a red pad. The wood is gorgeous!!

Brett, thanks for arranging for the AHFCA Challenge and congrats to the HOA Mark and RU Dave. Just wondering, how many SxS shooters were at the SASSS Spring Classic and how many Fox shooters participated in the Challenge? frank

Frank, a total of 71 registered shooters for the scored event plus a number of others in the side games. As far as total AH Fox shooters I don’t have a count as I had a family obligation on Saturday.

David Olshansky, the AHFCA High Gun Runner Up was shooting his trusty AH FOX made in Philadelphia 16 gauge Sterlingworth pictured below. It has 28” barrels choked mod and full.

Congratulations to the winners and all the participants. My mind immediately and selfishly went to what were the beautiful boomsticks and attributes our winners had in hand.

I love how their chosen implements were different places in the Fox spectrum along with 1 being a 16 (love) as well.

Congratulations to Mark and David and a thanks to you Brett for setting this up. Every one was smiling so that's always a good sign.
