Back in the day there was a group of us: 3-5 regular couples that got together; a local hotel offered a package: a room for the night, dinner, a dance, a cash bar, champagne at midnight, and breakfast. We dressed to the 9's (my tux still fit then!) and the ladies looked amazing! What fun we had...
Later years we'd get together at one home or another; food, games, drink...we'd definitively make a night of it. If someone couldn't make it home...there was always a designated driver, or if that failed, a sofa.
One couple is divorced and neither one lives here now; another lady has passed and we don't see the husband. One couple is in Texas now; another we've just sorta drifted from.
Tonight the Good Wife fixed a nice comfort food casserole for dinner. A few drinks, I watched the Penn State/Boise State game; I think she watched HG TV.. A good night kiss, and off to bed.
A pic from one of those long ago nights. Happy New Year Y'all!!

Happy New Year! We went out for an early dinner with one of our daughters and son in law then home to watch football and a movie. Barely made it till the ball drop!

Ball drop? I shot pool with friends until the 8 ball dropped just about midnight. Then, home I went.
I guess that's what they're talking about, Daryl.

The only way I knew the year turned over was that my neighbor always shoots off fireworks at midnight.
