By my limited knowledge I think that's what they were simply called.
This is a trap one with a 29" barrel and with nice wood it called to me.

The John D. Pedersen designed Remington Repeating Shotgun was announced on the back page of the 1908 Remington Arms Co. catalog --

and was offered in the 1908-09 Remington Arms Co. catalog --

Remington Arms Co. had apparently been providing them to "select shooters" as Frank Riehl is pictured with one in this May 25, 1907, sporting paper picture --

and is in this corner art on page 5 of a 1906 Remington Arms Co. catalog --

By the 1910 Remington Arms Co. catalog they began offering a solid rib --

and added a lower priced Trap Special Grade --

Looking at what you posted I'm thinking it's a #3 trap ?
I'm mainly going by the checkering style though.
The serial is U 66,xxx so a relatively early gun ?

I did also notice all even length barrels in the flyers/catalogs.

Beautiful gun. I am fortunate to be the current caretaker of a W.R. Crosby Parker. 30", 20ga, straight grip/no safety in which the Parker letter states "compliments of Parker Bros." It's so cool finding a gun with provenance.

That serial number would be about 1910 or 11, just before Marcellus Hartley Dodge combined his arms and ammunition companies as Remington Arms - Union Metallic Cartridge Co. and they began calling it the Model No. 10.

65845 is already a Remington Arms - Union Metallic Cartridge Co. gun --

and marked Model 10 on the barrel.

Broke it down and lubed it up.

Put three field loads in.

Yes still in time.

Then 1 bottle center and one your a turkeys head.

While you have it broken down try measuring from the chamber entrance to the end of the barrel and see if you not a little closer to an even number.

I'm glad to see the action release button is still the original flat solid affair rather than the mushroomed hollow button that came afterwards and is commonly changed out on these earlier guns.

Also not to be a stickler but I hope you did notice in Dave's information that it was the Repeating Shotgun, but originally the Model of 1908.

It does measure 30" to there.
Quite a relief I didn't know how to measure properly.
I was looking today for a 3 stamp and couldn't find one.

You’ll have to remove the stock on order to see the grade stamps.

Typically the grades under 4 are not designated on the underside of the barrel.
