Finally! I think the hang time on the Callahan letter was about ten weeks.

A question for you if I may, does Mr. Callahan offer to purchase all the time?
I would also appreciate any input or suggestions for preparing this old bird for shooting. A decent gunsmith for a start. [/img]

Very nice! 26" guns from this period are VERY rare. Pictures would be appreciated. I own 18307, maybe in the factory at the same time. Craig

Cargie,
Does your C have the scroll engraving?
I am just wondering when the engraving on the C grade was changed from the scroll?

I know Dave's in the 1700 still has the scroll while mine in the 76xx is the second generation.

There are quite a few pictures on the A and B pictures portion of this web site.

Dan,

I don't think Mr. Callahan offers to purchase guns that he is researching.

My guess is that CSMC (Connecticutt Shotgun Manufacturing Company) supplies the original looking Fox hang tags with the CSMC ad on the tag in hopes of possibly purchasing Fox guns whose SN's have been submitted for research.

CSMC are the buyers.

You have a very nice sounding gun that likely has the early style engraving. Post some pix if you have a chance.

Correction: mine is #18473 and to answer your question Bill, on #'s 1779 and 1875 they have an old style engraving with no quail on sides, the quail is on the side of the barrel balls. #10685 has new style with quail on side panels.

Bills late 1800 has scroll my 7689 has the birds.
