First bird of 2023
Most have moved south, but the dog needs exercise and I need to get my arse off the couch after watching football for 2 straight days. Anyway, 2 hours of walking behind a determined Sophie yielded two points and one shot and the meat gun delivered the first bird of the year. Always feel a bit sorry when I take a large female Woodcock late in the year, but I have to reward Sophie for a job well done.

Good going Tom! Glad to hear they are still around.
I got out myself, but I won't hijack your post.

Way to go, Tom! Glad you’re healed up and out there getting it done! Ringing in the new year with a bang. Hope some of the football you watched was my Dawgs pulling out that game against the Buckeyes. What a great game! Now, just one more win.

Re: First bird of 2023
Bobby, I have killed more then a few Woodcock in my life, but this one was a horse. Hard to miss when they are that large. I will be out after them again on Friday. Our season ends on the 17th I believe.
