Re: First Fox
That piece of wood could have been on a D- or F-Grade if it hadn't been for those defects. IMHO they certainly did the right thing in saving a beautiful piece of wood.

Re: First Fox
I spent some considerable time considering what appears to me to be a root node in the blank. The outstanding condition of the Fox won out. After a round of clays I am pleased. Thanks.

Re: First Fox
I saw your pictures on Facebook and I think that’s a gorgeous piece of wood.
Shoot vintage firearms, relax, and have fun.

Re: First Fox
The previous owner or owners took very good care of this one. I will do the same. Thanks.

Re: First Fox
Received the production card. If i am reading this correctly this Fox was originally f/f. Right barrel now measures a modified choke at +0.710. Weight at 6-11 is unchanged. Can almost read the date stamp. Not clear as to the interpretation for 'Slight Reduction'. Also my inspection reveals that the chambers were ever so slightly relieved. To extend the 2 5/8 to 2 3/4 I suppose. (Thanks to Mr. Bell and Mr. Armbrust we now know this to be unnecessary). So, A. H. Fox #15338 has a survived almost unmolelested, almost. Kevin, thanks for the card image. Now to look for Baltimore Gun sporting Damascus. Goodness this is fun.

Re: First Fox
This Fox made its way to Jaqua's in Findlay, Ohio. I stopped in to look over an early D grade Damascus Parker and left with this lovely Fox. Just could not put it down. Can you provide more information on Read in Boston?

Re: First Fox
Read was a respected gun dealer in Boston whose name also appeared on guns supposedly of his make. Google is your friend and will tell you more about Read. My guess that this is the "Read" on your card is that a person would normally be identified by his full name. "Read" would be understood to be Read of Boston.
