Thanks again Craig. That well describes the current state of ahfca affairs but I've long wondered why we used to have a higher % of enthusiastic shooters and now that cut much lower and other segments of our "population" have grown. I won't spend any more time trying to beat the bushes. On reflection that's the way it is and those of us who like to shoot clays for fun and score have choices to make when at vintage SxS events.
Speaking only for myself and my buddies that attend the events. The first few years we all tried to qualify and thought we might have a chance, my friend Rick S even made the Parker team one year with a high 30's score. As you know individual scores are posted for the team representative shooters---40, 43, 45, 47 out of 50, great shooting! My group quickly realized qualifying was out of reach so why not just shoot the courses for practice at a cheaper rate and leave the competition to you top guns. I am willing to bet many with the same mind set as me came to the same conclusion.
Craig pretty much sums up my perspective on the shooting activity.
I like to shoot but not concerned about getting a good score. Hence, I don't keep score. Shoot for fun and the good fellowship that goes along with it. No pressure.
It's a great 3 day event that I, and may others, look forward to each year.
And great for the guys and gals and the youngsters that do shoot well and like the competition. Many thanks to them.
