20 CE on Gunbroker???

Well, some of us know that I "chased" the gun for awhile. Frankly, I cooled off when I couldn't get DECENT pics and/or a good description. The killer for me was the "no inspection unless buy it now". I considered hitting the button for 10k for the privilage of an inspection, if the gun was rightous it would have been a decent price. Candidly, I hesitated because I had concern about un-doing the deal if I felt that was needed post-inspection. I mean no disrespect to the seller, it was just a big unknown for me based on our VERY limited contact.

I had a very nice phone conversation during the auction with a fellow forum member who had the privilage of seeing the gun in person. He said it was nice but had reservation about the seriousness of the barrel dents. I didnt feel like taking on a project geting it repaired.

It may very well be that a very nice gun was bought for a very good price. I was astonished to see that it went for a paltry 350something dollars more than I had bid, I anticipated it to go for much more in the 11th hour...perhaps I should have watched more closely till the end.

The good news is..."there's more pretty girls than one"

I am sure it could have gone for more if the seller had been more open and offered a longer inspection I felt the one day he offered me was worth going up the extra $350 but no more for all the reasons others mentioned.

I am mostly in hold mode when it comes to buying but I keep my eyes peeled. I have a fellow dealer who will take in what I buy and check it for me. My inquiry was through my AKO account which is US Army email so that shouldnt have scared them off from good pics.
Its nice to look at good guns and maybe chance a bid once in a while. But unless I see a nice AE 20 (which I am looking for) I an mostly in a watching mode.

I also took a drive to Easton to inspect this gun in person. Dents aside, the gun was in pretty good shape. The seller did not mention the slight crack on the right side of the stock but it was an easy fix. I believe the gun was all original.

For me, the big question was the barrels. The dents were smack dab in the chokes and I had serious concerns about barrel wall thickness and patterning after a repair. With my luck, I would have bought the gun and found out the barrels were paper thin. As eightbore mentioned, with a few simple tools I could have removed any suspicions on the spot. It pays to be prepared.

In person, the seller seemed to be an honest guy. He is young but had an idea of what he had. He did not seem like he was a regular internet gun buyer/seller.

If the barrels proved to be repairable, someone got a tremendous deal.

Well it seems like all of us that were players on this basically came to the same conclusions. The seller didn't do himself many favors with his inspection period, the barrel dents are possibly a serious issue, the seller did tell me about the crack in the stock and I enlarged his fuzzy pictures and that added to my druthers, and I also asked for more pictures which never materialized.

I my ID is fox16, it was Snake river outfitters during the auction. (long story of why the change)
I dropped out at 6877 or there abouts. I was just too nervous Nelle to go any higher.

I agree with Marshfellow there are more out there. I was thinking about the Idaho gun but then it was gone. There is a decent 16 C on gun broker that temps me but I have one and don't have a 20 of any grade.
I think the next few months will bring more to the surface.
