Fox get together
Frank brought up a good idea in having a regional Fox type event. I'm asking for feedback as to what you all would like to have, informal of course but geared to the Fox gun. So, let me know where you live if you are interested and and we could figure out where would be the best club within a two hour or less drive time to have it. It would probably be a one day get together. Once we got all that figured out I will be happy to make the arrangements. This would not be limited to Fox members but of course we would love to have new members.
Thanks,
Daryl

Daryl,
I think this sounds like fun, I'm in Stevens, Pa kind of between you and Frank.

Re: Fox get together
Daryl, a couple of clubs come to mind that might be more central for many of our mid-Atlantic members, i.e., Lehigh Sporting Clays near Allentown and Blue Ridge a little north of Harrisburg.
Also, there's the Rock Mountain SxS Expo and Shoot that's already scheduled for the end of July/August. For those who haven't been there as yet, Rock Mountain is located about 1/2 hour southwest of Hausmann's.

Re: Fox get together
Thanks for the replies Stan and Frank. As you post where you live give us your ETA to the clubs mentioned ie: Blue Ridge, Lehigh Valley, or any other club in PA as that's where the likely epicenter of this event could happen. Make suggestions.
For starters from my house Blue Ridge is 1:40min., Lehigh Valley is 2:30min., Warrenton SC is 1:15min. as is Central Penn SC. Rock Mountain is 3:30min, Hummelstown is 1:30min.

Re: Fox get together
Just a thought, Lehigh Valley is very nice, but I would avoid an event there as it may take you 5 hours to get a round in. Last time we shot an event on a regular day there we arrived at 8:30 and we were squad 42. Had to wait until 10:15 until we could start and finished at 2:30. That was 5 guys shooting 100 birds. Chuck Bishop was with us that day too. M&E would be a better option in that area. Used to be Wing Pointe in case you haven't shot there for a while. They are about 20 minutes from Cabela's Hamburg.
It's about a 2 hour drive from Rock Mountain to M&E.

Re: Fox get together
I've never shot at Lehigh, I had stopped in a few years back hoping to schedule a Saturday for about 20 guys from work. They were busy and it just didn't work out for the dates we wanted. Seems like a nice place, a little more on the pricey side, but I would like to try it sometime.
M&E is only about 35 minutes from my house, I actually shoot there occasionally and became a member to facilitate being able to shoot during this Covid 19 #***# when they were allowing members to shoot before things started opening up. IMO it is a decent course, maybe a little smaller than some and but then also doesn't require as much walking.
2 other good Sporting Clay Clubs which are less than a mile from each other are Central Penn Sporting Clays & Warrington Sporting Clays. These are both in Wellsville Pa which is just below Harrisburg and may be convenient for guys traveling highways.
Just throwing some ideas out there, don't know if these would be central for most involved or not.

Re: Fox get together
Thanks for the feedback guys.
I've heard the same thing about Lehigh Valley, so I'll scratch that one off the list for now. Seem like due to the responses we have Frank, Mike K. and Stan are the only ones interested in a get together. I'm willing to travel 2 hours into PA since that's where the clubs mentioned are located.
So..... Since my schedule is flexible, and I "Have gun will travel", if anyone wants to get together at any of the mentioned clubs let's set a date.
I also can offer a shoot at my club in Northern Baltimore county to anyone interested.
We have a 15 station SC course and a 19 trap 5 stand. We have a couple of nice ponds to fish for something aquatic and a comfortable house for refreshments afterwards.

Yo Mike, it's southwest not southeast. 1/2 hour southeast would be over near Lenox/South Gibson.Mike of the Mountain wrote:About 1/2 hour southeast of Hausmann's.Silvers wrote:

Daryl, I'm open to traveling 2-ish hours to shoot with Foxers most anytime depending of course on the date. Re: Lehigh Sporting Clays I do think it's best to scratch at least for now; received an email from Lehigh yesterday stating it's opening but with Wolf's CV restrictions = kind of typical nowadays but Lehigh's format is to call ahead to make reservations at the usually VERY busy club. But things are loosening up at least here in PA. Just a tidbit for those who like classic cars, yesterday Wolf & Company had to back down after it went to court trying to force the long delayed Spring Carlisle Show to close after it applied, couldn't get a waiver and opened anyway with appropriate CV contingencies. Net, the open air show is going on this weekend as planned.

Re: Fox get together
Mea culpa. My friend Mike is correct, relative to true north his Rock Mountain Club is about 5-degrees southeast of Hidden Hollow.
A tip of the hat to Mike ..... now he owes me one less Klondike ice cream bar; maybe he'll pay up this summer.

Re: Fox get together
Daryl,
I would like to suggest Vernon National Shooting Preserve in Vernon Center NY. Fantastic 16-17 station Sporting Clay course, fully automated, nice terrain, carts, facilities, great location to get to. Minutes off the NYS Thruway and the Turning Stone Casino & resort is right there, Central NYS, between Syracuse & Utica. Nice destination all around. Quite a few of our members have already visited there.

Re: Fox get together
Vernon is very nice, great facility and nice people. But to me it seems like Hausmann's is more centrally located for the majority of members in the NE.
