Fox A Grade Re-Cut Engraving

Post by MKETOOL »

Here is a Fox A grade that was badly pitted. To get most of the pits out, a lot of the engraving was destroyed. The fences had a very unique stippling which I had to make a special tool for. Seems to have come out very well. I will post some before and after pics. Thanks, Tim

That did turn out nice, MK. Were the barrels pitted too?

The gun is being refurbished by Bachelders Master Gun Makers in Grand Rapids MI. I did not see the barrels so I don't know what kind of shape they were in. I did the engraving. I am also just finishing up a modern version of an XE grade. The donor gun was a 20 ga Phili sterlingworth with ejectors and a single trigger. I will make another thread and post pictures when I am done with it.

Looking forward to seeing that one. I've got an XE upgraded 20 in the pipeline as well, with double triggers.

Good work on the recut. I can assure you it will likely be the best part of the gun in the end.
