SBT question

Post by Fin2Feather »

Someone asked this on another forum and as I am ignorant of the answer, please...what do the pyramid-shaped button and the rectangular-shaped device above it do? Thanks...

The button is the top lever release. The rectangular thing is the end of the crossbolt or locking bolt.

Thanks. Top lever release? Does that mean you have to operate it to open the top lever?

It is to release the top-lever back to center after the gun is taken apart.

Ah. Thanks. Probably another silly questions, but why is that necessary?

The Fox SBT trip pin is totally enclosed in the left side of the standing breech, hence the button to manually depress it and release the locking bolt and top lever while the gun is broken apart for travel or storage.

Fin, yes, it is neccesary because putting a disassembled Fox single in a case with the lever in the engaged position allows it to be damaged by side pressure on the case. Without a release, any gun would be in danger of damage in a case.

Thanks. I was gonna ask why it was necessary but figured I'd already bothered everyone enough. Thanks for the explanation.
