Latest Acquisition
Latest Acquisition
Picked up this little gun awhile back, the pros outweighed the cons and I had to bring " her" home. I believe it is one of two Savage built XE 20's. It had kind of an odd history, it was shipped to A&F IN Oct, 1930, where it languished on the shelf until 1937 when someone decided to give "her" a home. This someone apparently decided it was " special " enough to place " her " inside a wall he was constructing where " she " stayed for around 50 years. That probably accounts for the preservation of the cc's which my photos don't really capture. Pics or Tech is not my strong suit, but here is all 5# 8oz's of "her."

Thanks Stan I will work out the glitch and try to get up a few more pics. Sorry to leave you guys hanging after posting such a teaser intro. Why it was built into the wall is still a mystery, but the late owners son told me his father must have held the gun in high regard to do such a thing. I agree, petite XE smallbores are special.

Re: Latest Acquisition
Wow and double wow!! An XE-Grade that late that doesn't have the stock head rebates, but does have the lock screw and the profiled breechballs. The story of this gun would certainly make a great Newsletter article.
