I have to ask ......... what do you mean by "pre-ebony insert"?

Stan, the early C Grade Foxes didn't have the triangular ebony insert in the tip of the forend wood. The highest serial no CE I've owned without the ebony tip had s/n 1542x.

Oh, that makes sense. I was on the wrong track. I was assuming that maybe there was another material used other than ebony, like maybe ivory.

It's pretty, but that's the craziest forearm I have ever seen. I'm guessing that the owner had really long arms.

I would never say never but probably not. Does the production card mention anything about the forearm? But even that can be inclusive. There seems to be several guns that are factory but oddities are not noted on the production card.

Whoever had that fore-end made adhered to the adage that "form follows function". It may be the best thing since sliced bread, to actually shoot, but it sure is weird looking to me.

Dan Rossiter stocked two gun for me as Becker tributes. The Fox has 30" barrels and a 9 3/4" forend, to the wood. The Parker has 32" barrels and a 12" forend, also to the wood, both ivory tipped. I asked Dan for a long forend on the Fox to match the Parker, but his sense of proportion won over and he shortened the Fox to allow for the shorter barrels. I never got a letter on the B Grade Parker with 12" forend that was for sale at Albright's Gun Shop in Easton, Maryland a few years ago. This gun should appear in the SB as a V5, which is what it is. Unfortunately, I can't find it in the SB. However, only a letter will prove the foot long forend as original. It appeared very original, but the gun was priced out of my comfort zone.

Haaaa...watch the letter come back noting the special instructions:

"Fit extra-long forearm for man with 52" arms. Flare at end where Heikes barrel protector would normally go."

Probably an after-market custom job, but what a conversation piece! You'll look like Churchill shooting his 25's!
