Trigger guard tang on straight grip Foxes?

Post by Silvers »

Just wondering if any Fox people have seen a short trigger guard tang on original Philly-era Fox with straight grip stock? All of the original straight grip Philly guns I've seen had the long tang, but have been told they were made both ways. Comments?

Frank-I'm pretty certain the only straight grip Foxes with short guards are the Sterlingworth Skeet & Upland models whose tg is merely a standard straightened pg guard.

short tangs

All of my graded straight grips have long tang with serial number between the screws. My Sterlingworth Skeet & Uplands all have short guard, basically a PG guard straightened and the end rounded instead of a point.

There have been a few on the market lately that have long tangs and are Sterlingworths that have been converted. Also have seen a graded gun with straight grip and short tang, obviously a conversion. Also saw one,a graded gun , straight grip , long tang guard but the serial was ahead of the front screw which means a PG guard with metal added.

Just my .02.
