Where I can get the rib on a NOS Fox barrel nureled?

Post by abner »

I have three NOS Fox barrels and a Model 21 that need the ribs nureled. Does anyone know of a shop that has the machine that can do this job? Thanks

There is not one doing rib matting with the correct Fox, Parker or Winchester pattern at the moment. This is what I presume you mean by "(K)nurling". Andy's Custom Shop had the machine and the correct dies for these guns but is no longer in business. When last I spoke to Andy, he still had the machine but was not set up to do work. Simmons in Olathe, KS is doing solid ribs for M42s and 12 but I don't know if they will do a M21.

Matting is what I need. I had heard that someone bought the Andy's Custom Shop machine and was hoping for better news. I can't believe that there isn't someone doing this type of work. What do the different barrel smiths do when they need matting on their work? Thanks

Abner,

I just ran across your post from last year, did you ever get your ribs matted? My shooting buddy Gary Donovan, GunWorks, Verona, NY (way upstate by me) has got the machine and it is up and running and doing fine work. I know he does Foxes and 21s

I will post the phone number if anyone is interested, I just dont have it handy right this minute.

got the number 315 363 7041

Thanks Marsh:

I have been in contact with them, they did the 21 and I hope to be ready for the Foxes soon. I have had trouble getting the barrels fitted to my 16ga XE. I thought it would be easy to get barrels fitted, but after two years, I have changed my mind. Thanks for the info.
