Need to quit getting up early
Will be headed to Va shortly. Just your basic Fox 20 gauge Sterly with with 28" barrels, tight on face, excellent bores. Choked IC/Mod. Back up gun for chasing doodles and partridge as they say. Early Savage gun with all the Philly Features.

Re: Need to quit getting up early
I had to think hard about a need. However finding a small Bore Fox that has 1 1/2 DAC and 2 1/2" DAH in a 20 gauge seemed to make it a need. If not I'll move it down the road at some point. I'm guessing it will tip the scales at a bit less then 6 lbs and mechanically there are no issues. Does have a crack in the head on the stock on one side that I'll get taken care of, but everything else seems sound. Has a decent amount of case color as well.

Re: Need to quit getting up early
Nice pick up Tom.
Be careful though, getting up early is how I ended up with ten 16 gauge foxes! LOL!
I'm now down to seven, but for me it is a lot harder to sell one than it is to buy one. I just always remember the "need" part when it comes time to think about moving one down the road.

Re: Need to quit getting up early
I have a little 20 gauge Sterly ejector that is currently at Dan Rossiter's getting tightened up as they say. That was was restocked long ago to fit me and I shoot it well. This new one will the backup to that one. I like 20 gauge Foxes. Really like Savage era guns because in most cases they have 2 3/4" chambers and more shootable dimensions.

Tom: I am an early riser also and it gets me in trouble. So you are a small bore guy who just purchased a beautiful Super Fox, I am a big gun guy who has never owned a Fox 20ga small bore until now. Nice little 20ga CE just the way I like to find em.

Think I saw that gun briefly on Gunbroker. Is that the one that Tommygun's bought a few weeks ago?fox-admin wrote:Tom: I am an early riser also and it gets me in trouble. PS. I'll offer a straight trade for you. My Sterly 20 for your CE 20. Heck I'll even throw in a few Ben Franklins. Maybe more then a few.

Re: Need to quit getting up early
Tommy bought the gun and returned it and it went up for auction again last week. I was too late the first time but not the second. It is right as rain in my opinion. The best all original CE 20ga I have handled in a long time.

About time to stick that small bore toe in the water. I'm sure your lab can handle upland chores just fine.

Funny how some folks call that a rainy day gun. I'd shoot it on a sunny day or any day!vaturkey wrote:Will be headed to Va shortly.
