New Savage Fox
Re: New Savage Fox
I wish they would call it some other name!...Its not a Fox gun...It may be a good gun, still not a A.H. Fox in any sense of design or packaging. Maybe call it a NSD New Savage Double...SXS ohio

Re: New Savage Fox
I agree with Kenny also.
I like my RBL 16. It is not as light as any of the 16 gauge Foxes that I own right now, nor does it handle as well, but I never hesitate to put any shell in it that I have on hand. It lets me burn up a lifetime of assorted shells that I have accumulated when I'm in the mood.
If money were no object, I think I would enjoy what is basically an RBL 20 that looks kind of like a fox to burn through shells etc....
That being said, not a lot of guys fall into that "if money were no object" club, and at that price you could get a real one.

Re: New Savage Fox
Nothing on that gun looks like a Fox to me. If you had showed me a picture of that gun and not told me what it was, I would have passed right over it without a second glance. If you waited this long to bring it back, do it right and use the original Fox design! Just too many elements that are off. The original Fox design is a simplistic masterpiece, and for the money I'll buy another original. It's just like the CSMC guns, I love them but for the price I'd rather have an original. Just my opinion.

I think at a MSRP of $4999 you can get a lot more gun for the money elsewhere. I don't believe it will sell that well.

Fox advert dated October 20, 1906. It reads easier if you click on the image to expand it.

That ad could indicate the CSMC guns are genuine! Do they also ship with a tag bearing Ansley's signature? That'd seal the deal, in a seer sort of way.

Re: New Savage Fox
In my experience replicas are never the gun that the original was...but it's always good when they make a replica though...shows there is interest in the brand...and it tends to make prices of the originals rise.

Re: New Savage Fox
If they would offer it with 32" barrels it might get a little more of my attention, as it is probably steel shot safe.
On second tho't, "Nah". I can keep loading bismuth and shooting my real Foxes.
