Condition Issues?

Post by cwchilders »

I just received this 16ga Utica Sterlingworth, purchased as "No Issues". I am new to SxS and Fox in particular, so this is my first. I have a question as to the muzzle and rib, and have attached pictures. Looks like the rib was resoldered and the muzzle filed or cut?

Also the stock appears to have been refinished, as it looks like finish in a few of the "chips"? With this being my only Fox, I want to confirm, before I contact the seller with specific questions from my inspection period.

I certainly appreciate the assistance with this!

I agree with your analysis on both counts. Poor workmanship on the barrels for sure, send it back if you can. Craig Larter

The barrel work looks more like some sort of filler or glue than solder.

Thanks guys. I do have a three day inspection. Paid asking price and the seller advertised "No Issues", and then confirmed this over the phone. I suppose I'll have to search in person, next time I get down to the Lower 48!

This is excellent advice and that is my next move, after I get this gun refunded.
