Dave/Researcher,
That's the 3rd late style DE 12 that I have seen that had that feature on the sear pin. One not too long ago on the internet that Craig has pictured above and another one that I seen at the January Las Vegas gun show about 10 - 12 years ago, maybe longer. That was a very minty gun - I don't have any other details on that one.
The one shown above is SN 25989. And I don't think there is anything on the card to indicate special treatment. I'm reluctant to dis-assemble the gun to see if it's a standard pin but slotted or there are threads on it. And yes, according to the Roe Clark letter, it was shipped to A&F on Feb. 22, 1922 but Griffin and Howe apparently don't have A&F records for 1922.
Bob Beach did a great research letter on the gun including sending me a copy of the A&F gun log page 60 "Fox Inventory" beginning "7-30-29". Interesting to note, that "A. H. Fox Gun Co." consigned several high end guns to A&F as shown on that copy. In it are 3- DE12's, 1- DE16, 1-DE20, 1- FE12 and 2 -ME's. Serial numbers are removed except 25989 so don't know exactly what they were. Of those, only 2 DE12's were sold. The rest of them were returned to Fox. The economy in late 1929 was kinda iffy so maybe understandable they weren't sold.
Back to the slotted sear pin, anybody else seen this on a Fox?
