It absolutely is a great piece. I really appreciate having the opportunity to understand why certain things are done, and why others are not, and this article takes you deep into the planning stages and execution. I have communicated with Dewey since I read the piece and asked him how he fastened the trigger guard tang without a screw. He said he designed a means to do that, but after looking many more hours at it had decided not to use it, but instead to use two engraved screws with very narrow slots. His rationale was that since the heel and toe plates had to have screws he thought the tang would look better with them, too. He is one of our masters at this craft.

For those who like reading more of Dewey's writings he has a blog that is chock full of good stuff. http://vicknairgunsmithing.blogspot.com
