Anyone know what these barrel stamps are?

Anyone know what these stamps are? I guess they are some kind of proof marks. On top the barrels are marked "Chromox Fluid Compressed Steel"
and "Made by A H Fox Gun Co Phila PA USA". Don't see a Fox proof mark. C grade 12ga.

I've seen serial numbers like on the tubes used in a Purdey barrel. They were assigned by the Whitworth factory to each tube. That tube number was recorded along with which maker the tube was shipped to.

Just speculation on my part. Maybe the tubes were made by Krupp and then shipped to Fox. During and after WWI German products weren't so popular. So maybe Fox just put them on a gun without the formerly prestigious "Krupp, Essen" engraving.

Best,

Mike

SB&Co. is the mark of the steel company that supplied the rough tubes to A.H. Fox Gun Co. In this case Sanderson Bros. & Co. I have not seen the T mark after it before. The 3 above the SB&Co. marking was the weight marking of the rough tubes. Fox used 1 (the heaviest) to 4 (the lightest) tubes and then when the Super-Fox was introduced they added 0. The little keystone-like glyf on the watertable was a Fox inspector's mark

These kinds of markings often got struck off the tubes during the building of the gun.

Thanks for the info. I knew I'd get a quick response here. What a great resource this board is.
