Grandson Jackson and I got to spend three days hunting the L 'Anguille River bottom near Caldwell, AR. Got home about 10 pm last night. Great time together. My 32" Super Fox did an admirable job on the mallards with HeviShot Classic Doubles #4s Thursday morning. Shot four shells, killed four mallards. None of them cripples, redlegs up and waving on all four.
Stan: You boys down south sure know how to built a duck blind!!! Great pictures and nice shooting with your SF.
I love TM 1 3/8 oz #5's in my SF with it's tight chokes on late season red leg mallards----either you kill the duck dead feet up waving to his friends or miss-----
10 degrees here this morning so I expect you will see a push of birds south.
Keep the pictures coming. Thanks Craig
Thanks, Craig. I have hunted out of that blind for the past 12-14 years. It was well built, but is beginning to need a little bit of repair before next season. The gentleman who had it built, Jim Lindsey, used to play for the MN Vikings, under Bud Grant, from '66-'72 as a running back. I've had some great times listening to him and some of his old teammates tell "war stories" at night in duck camp. He once told Freddie Cox, place kicker for the Vikings during that time, that the blind cost him more than his first house, to have built. I have been truly blessed to have the Lindsey family as my close friends. Jim's brother "B" Lindsey was a four sport athlete in high school. When Frank Broyles became head coach of the Razorbacks he was told to go sign "B" for the team. He went and did that, but "B" never played. He instead signed with the S.L. Cardinals to play baseball. Broyles, Grant, Cox and many other notables have shot ducks out of that blind. It's a very special place.
Stan, a duck hunter could spend the whole season in that blind without ever coming out! Great photos and a great hunt. I would like to make it back to Arkansas and hunt greenheads.
Jim
PS - I grew up in Minnesota and graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1962. I remember those Bud Grant Viking teams well.
Goodbye Mandy, once in a life time hunting dog. I miss you every day.
