Non centered beads?
I've seen a few Foxes (both graded and non-graded) that had end beads that weren't centered. Was it a one off, or was there on occasion where QC slipped? PS. FWIW, I asked my gunsmith who specializes in Foxes for the most part and he said he's seen quite a few where the end bead wasn't centered. Anyway, appreciate thoughts on why if there is a reason why?

Re: Non centered beads?
I would believe it is just poor quality control, not taking the time to do it right. I have never seen this problem on Remington, Ithaca or Parker doubles, unless they were worked on by someone trying to be a gunsmith, with a hasty bead setting after a barrel cutting.

Won't really matter if it's centered or not. You're not supposed to look at the bead while shooting. Focus on the target and the bead is fuzzy in your peripheral vision just so that you know where your muzzles are. Don't let an off center bead keep keep you from bidding on that A grade 20g!!
Re: Non centered beads?
Maybe just a Fox tradition. I think CSMC honors those off-center beads by mounting mid beads well forward of center of their barrels. Kind of an homage!

I think that little A grade is going to be way above where it currently sits price wise when all is said and done.Mike of the Mountain wrote:Won't really matter if it's centered or not. Re: Non centered beads?
I had a Utica 16 sterlingworth that the front bead was off center a tad. Bobby

Re: Non centered beads?
The fact that that gun has no standard engraving was what appealed to me. Alas, I have three 20 gauges with 26" barrels. Whey would I need a 4th. The buyer is the same fellow who bought the 16 gauge Skeet and Upland about two months ago. No idea who that is, but he's gotten two unusual Foxes in the last two months.eightbore wrote:And the final price was too high for an "Early A" 20 with condition? Who got it? I may have been interested but something else caught my eye.

An early A 20 is a real rarity. What about the Skeet and Upland that sold for $910 last week? There are so many Foxes out there. Keep your nose to the ground. Personally, I have enough, so I am not interested in any future purchases. Yes, I am Bill Murphy.
