Long Legged Smallbores

Post by mc15426378 »

Both guns are 32". First photos are of an AE 16 originally shipped to California Hardware Co. This gun came to me in decent shape but needing some work. First smith totally fubared the gun. Second smith did a 1st rate job as you can see in the photos. Second gun is a CE 20. Per the research letter the gun originally had a Jostam Anti Flinch pad but now sports a Hy Gun. Was outbid (by $5 - kick self again) on the new Anti Flinch pad that was recently on Ebay. Still looking for a 6 slot Anti Flinch if anyone has or knows of one. The SST works perfectly and this gun handles superbly. As Researcher said a lot of XEs wished they had wood as nice as this CE.

Two beautiful specimens!! Two definitive examples of: "Fox Envy!!"

PS---Count your blessings on the top one. She was a phone call away and I never dialed the number. Oh well. Another one for "Roll's Wall of Woe!!"

Thanks for sharing.
On the whole....I'd rather be in Philadelphia....

Gosh that CE has some great wood in it. I'll bet the card on that one would be interested to see.

Mike, two rare and wonderful ladies and your photography is great too. Thanks for posting. I don't have a 6-slot Jostam but I'll keep you in mind if I come across a good one. Same as Roll wrote, I could have made a phone call to catch your first vixen when she first came out of the den. Stupid, stupid.

Anyway Mike, I am truly happy you got her!

Why do you think the pad is not the one Fox put on this gun? They weren't splitting hairs about pad types back in those days. Not ugly guns, by the way.

Here's my poor attempt at posting the research letter. The CE makes a dandy 16 yd trap smacker (limited appearances though). She strutted her stuff at 5 stand last weekend but my buds were more impressed with the gun than my shooting. No 3" shells thru her while in my care.

Eightbore, see why I made my comment on the pad? The Hy Gun is in great shape (looks to have been there a long time) and is perfectly fitted but I'd like an Anti Flinch pad as that's what she was ordered with.

The AE is a great gun and probably ordered for ducks out on the west coast. This gun also dusts the birds at trap and 5 stand.

Thanks for the kind comments, especially on my photos. Only had 15 or so minutes on lunch break for the photo opp.

Wow Mike, you really hit the jackpot on those two! Beautiful and 32" to boot. You must be living right.

Thanks Jim. I'm going on an early season teal hunt this weekend. Maybe doves also. Neither of these two guns will be making the trip. Gonna take my SP 20 and a Husqvarna 16 hammer gun. But, these two ladies will get an outing or two for late season doves.

Hope your you have a great hunting season.

Those are beauties, Mike. I knew you had them but thanks for posting the pics. I had the chance at the other Fox 20 that was a "mate" to the CE, as you know, but the price was just a bit too steep for me. I'm very happy for you. Use them in good health.

All my best, Stan
