JIM KELLY FEATURED IN THIS MONTH'S COVEY RISE

Post by George Lander »

My friend, Jim Kelly of Darlingtom Gun Works, is featured in an article entitled "BECOME A COLLECTOR" by Greggory Elliott in this month's issue of COVEY RISE MAGAZINE. In the article the author emphasizes the importance in collecting doubles of having a competent gunsmith inspect a new acquisition prior to purchase. His choice & mine is Jim Kelly of Darlington Gun Works, Darlington South Carolina. If you recall it was Jim who identified "BO WHOOP" when it resurfaced and did work on it. It's a great article for those of us wishing to build a quality collection of doubles.

I learned of this several weeks ago and will admit to having mixed feelings about it. While he certainly deserves the accolades (I have yet to read the article), his workload will undoubtedly go up now. Jim's expertise and gentlemanly manner of doing business has caused his number of customers to steadily increase over the years, but I expect it to greatly increase now. Again, I am happy for Jim,and look forward to reading the article.

His workload already went up dramatically with the Bo Whoop fame. He has also had some health issues, I am afraid.
