Choke in a sterlingworth
Was there a factory standard for chokes in Sterlingworth's with 30 inch barrels? Full and Modified perhaps.

Mike M's. Fox books states that standard choking in 30" sterlingworths was full/full, however they could be opened up to full/mod at no additional cost.

Re: Choke in a sterlingworth
In the 1910 The Sterlingworth Co. catalogue the 30-inch barrel Sterlingworth Standard was listed as full choke in both barrels.
The catalogued chokes for a 30-inch Sterlingworth Standard was both barrels full choke or modified and full in the 1911 Campfire catalogue --

and the 1912 Campfire catalogue. From the 1913 "Fox Gets the Game" catalogue through the 1929 "Woodgrain" catalogue the 30-inch Sterlingworth Standard is listed as full choke in both barrels. Beginning with the 1931 Savage produced Fox catalogue through to the end the 30-inch Fox-Sterlingworth Standard is listed as modified and full.

Hi all:
My Savage era 12ga. Sterly S/N 132443 reads: L. bbl: Bore = 0.734", Choke = 0.691"=.043"
Restric.
R.bbl: Bore = 0.734", Choke = 0.705"= 0.029" Restric.
Looks like a pretty tight Mod. & Full.
