Left handed Fox?
There is a gun listed on another site that's purported to be a Sterlingworth made for a left hander; "left handed cast. Left barrel is slightly more open than right barrel and fires from front trigger." I'm not a lefty but am just curious as to how many such guns may have been made. Hopefully this doesn't violate the "no guns for sale" rule.

Re: Left handed Fox?
I have seen requests for features for left-handed shooters on graded gun cards, but I can't imagine the factory doing that on a "made for stock" gun like the Sterlingworth. I'd have to see a letter stating such from the Savage Historian to believe it was original. If there is cast-(on or off) in a Sterlingworth stock, it most likely got there from the wood drying and twisting slightly in the decades after the gun left the factory.

I had a 16ga Sterlingworth once that was set up with cast on
Seemed to be the original stock
Totally fluffed a round of skeet before I noticed

I saw that post. I can see someone having this gun "customized" after the fact. I doubt it is original.

I don't see anywhere that the owner claims it's factory original; I've asked if he knows, or if he has a letter, etc. He says it has a Chromox receiver and 30" barrels. "Chokes are F/F. Twin ivory beads. Left handed cast. Left barrel is slightly more open than right barrel and fires from front trigger...2 and 3/4' chambers, #4 barrels (lightest)." He says the front trigger is on the left side of the received in true left-handed fashion.

Saw the post. No pictures provided but interesting to see what it was when it left the factory. Certainly was set up for a left hander.Fin2Feather wrote:I don't see anywhere that the owner claims it's factory original; I've asked if he know, or if he has a letter, etc. He says it has a Chromox receiver and 30" barrels. Re: Left handed Fox?
Wonder if the triggers were just swapped in their positions, or are they triggers that are actually canted and profiled for a left handed shooter?

Re: Left handed Fox?
My M21 is choked Cylinder in the left barrel, Modified in the right, and when I got it somebody had apparently had enough of the reversed choking and switched the triggers so the front would fire the left barrel first. They didn't re-bend the triggers though, and it was a big of a snagglepuss setup with the front trigger far to the left and the rear actually extending outside of the guard. Having to reach through to the front trigger made it easy to "double" the gun as under recoil the trigger finger fell directly back into the rear and pulling snugly essentially straight back would get the gun to go bangbang. Limited usefulness, but fun as a trick.

Re: Left handed Fox?
I did receive some pics of the gun; if anyone is interested please send me an email address and I'll be happy to forward them on. Not sure they will answer the questions but I will be interested to hear others' opinions.
