Super Fox Mallards

Post by fox-admin »

It has been a VERY slow duck season in central NY this year. Today it was 20 degrees and about as cold as you can imagine. The flight birds should have been here in big numbers but not so. Anyhow I managed to take three nice mallards with my Super Fox. Our marsh will be locked up in ice tonight and that will most likely be it for my season.

Nice going, Craig. Did Lucy do the retrieving? Jim

Lucy stayed home way to much ice. I am always worried my dog will go through the ice and come up under the ice and drown. No duck worth losing your dog over. Also wind chill 8 with 20 to 30 mph wind. She did save my butt a few times this year.

Atta boy Craig. Tough conditions. Did many of the other guys hunt also?

Might warm up enough early next week to open some of the marsh. Might make for good hunting after what we're getting now.

Looks like fun. Sorry your season is getting snowed out. Ours starts this coming Sunday and I can't wait.

Hen killer! Just kidding - looks like a nice hunt - our season won't get rolling good for another few weeks yet down here in the Carolinas.

Our season in NW PA was terribly slow also. Big bunch of swan and gadwall in last Thursday and they all moved out in 2 days. Hundreds of mallards went south this past Monday morning and Pymatuning WMA was froze up tight by Tuesday night. Those birds that you got look like nice big northern ducks. The few that we got were beauties but we sure got short changed on opportunities this year.
