Gun show finds
Gun show finds
Went to my usual gun show on Saturday and could not believe my luck when I ran into a fella with a 12 ga.Sterly from 1922.The wood us kind of beat up,it has seen a lot of oil over the years and will need to be replaced, but the case colers were nice and everything else looked good too.Did not think $450 was too bad so I got it.Continued wandering through the aisles and came upon a dealer I had not seen before. In the rack on his table there sat an early B grade with 30" barrels.I have been looking for a gun made when Mr Fox was running his business and also like the early style engraving on the older guns. The receiver has gone silver but the bluing is still good on the barrels.Unfortunately the stock had been cut down, but I figured since you do not see these every day I would make him an offer and walked away with it for $1000.Wondering if that was as good a deal as I thought it was-I know I will have to put some money into this gun.It is a 12 gauge,no ejectors, made in 1908.Any idea how many 12 ga.early engraving style B-grade guns were made? I know this grade was taken out of production in 1918-maybe because sales of it were slow. Thanks-J.S.

Re: Gun show finds
There is no way to possibly know that. There are at least three variations of the "early" style B-Grade engraving. From the Wayne & Bristol Streets days, 1905 and 1906 --Any idea how many 12 ga.early engraving style B-grade guns were made?
After the move to North 18th Street & Windrim Avenue 1907-1912 --
After the Godshalk take over, 1913 --
There is a thread going over on doublegunshop.com right now about how soft the market is at this time for indifferent 12-gauges.

Excellent catches !
Sorry to say I don't have the inclination to do gunshows anymore . What with being in a gunshop 4 days a week for 4-8 hours each day I have no desire to be around the masses of AR , Tactical , 1911 guys that seem to over run any of the shows around here .
