112031 32" Sterly finally arrives Pics Added

32" Sterlingworth I purchased on 24 May today arrived at my local gunshop. Been a month since I bought it, but apparently they misplaced my dealers FFL twice.

My Skeets is in being serviced (I caught it in the garage door), so I only have a few measurements. The measurements at both barrel ends are .684. I think when I measured them at the auction I thought they were .035 and .040, but now believe they might be a tad tighter then that. I'll know when the Skeets returns for sure. Other interesting notes is the gun weighs 7 lbs 6 oz. Barrels themselves weigh 40 oz even. Ring like 32" wind chimes. Original LOP to end of buttplate is 14 1/8". I'll have Dan add a correct period style pad and will probably have Dan reblacken the barrels as they have some light pits and blueing is in pretty sad shape. Barrels are marked with a crown over a D and are number 2 weight and I think I read somewhere they were made by Delcour in Belgium. I have hopes of turning this into my Clay gun to shoot locally and perhaps elsewhere. Might make an interesting Bo Whoop gun as well. I'll have to add a comb riser as it has a 3" DAH, but I think for what I want to do she will be fine. Gun was carried a lot and shot very little as its amazingly tight. Think the harsh Eastern Shore climate has the exterior a tad rough while the inside is almost cherry.

Took a few pictures. Overall a very nice gun with really nice well cared for wood. Look how far that lever is to the right:

Very nice Tom. Looks like an honest one. I really like those 32-inch Foxes and from what you told me while at the Northeast SxS, you made a good buy. Just one thing .... and I just know you did a "test" to see if we all are paying attention .... I'm thinking those 2-weight barrels should weigh about 60 ounces, not 40. :P

Hate when fingers slip. Dead on 60 ounces Frank. She is tight as a tick as my dear deceased uncle used to say.

It is indeed. Took a real hard look at it today and the stock is much nicer then I remember. Good and tight, good varnish, couple of scratches but I'm quite pleased. Gun was out a lot but fired very little. I'm thinking I might not have the barrels reblackened. Adding a Noschoc pad will get me to about 14 3/4" which is darn close to what I shoot currently. I"m going to see if Dan can bend the stock a bit and get it close enough so I don't have to add a temp comb riser. I'll take it up to Dan next month and we can do a strip/clean and oil, add the pad and see about the bend. Hopefully we won't discover anything wrong once we are inside of it. I'll take some pics over the weekend and post.

I purchased a nice Sterlingworth, 12gauge, 30" barrels from the same auction but unfortunately it was damaged in shipping, a bad ding in the right barrel! So now I'm dealing with FedEx and the shipper. It was poorly packaged, butcher paper and packing peanuts, barrel came through the box and dinged the end of the barrel!
