Pumpkin Mtn Gun Shop - A+ Service

Post by SAS »

I want to share my recent experience with Jason at Pumpkin Mtn Gun Shop. I needed an extractor for a 16 ga Sterlingworth. Jason at Pumpkin Mountain had several in stock. He prepared the part by broadening and deepening the firing pin notches, relieving the bottom edge and chamfering the guide pins. He included detailed instructions for installtion. The part arrived in two business days, and the price was very reasonable. It seems he has a good inventory of many Fox parts. I will not hesitate to use his services in the future. Just wanted to share my experience with other members. For anyone interested, Jason's number is (518) 352-1977.

Scott, thanks for being a member of the AHFCA. I hope to see you this year at the Northeast SxS or one of the other events. That sounds like excellent service. Just a suggestion since you didn't mention sending the barrel for fitting of the extractor. If not, there are two critical parameters: first that the replacement extractor is exactly as thick as the old one; if it's thicker by even a few thou that will force the barrels off the face when closed and will eventually wear the hook and/or spring the frame bar. Second is that the shell rim cuts in the replacement extractor exactly match the rim cuts in the barrels .... if not the barrels will be forced off face when shells are chambered. Same result.

Thanks Silvers. I plan on being at the NE again this year. And thank you for the technical points on the extractor fit. My technical capabilities are limited and it did not take me long to realize that even this seemingly simple task was beyond my expertise. I have a heightened appreciation for the skills required to produce and repair these fine guns. At some point, I plan on sending the entire gun to Pumpkin Mountain for the extractor repair. I am planning on attending the Forks show on Feb 8. Perhaps I will see you there. Regards, Scott.
