"A" great day

Post by 3birddogs »

Carried my sweet little A grade 16 Satuday in the pheasant fields. I am now 7/8's thru this years quest to take game with all 8 of my 16 guages, which has successfully included my 16 SW, 16 SW DEluxe, 16 A grade, Lefever G 16, Rizzini 16, Parker VH 16, and Parker GH 16. The only gun left to go is my little DHE O frame 16 Parker.

My setters are what I would call your typical Wv-Pa setters. Alot of Ryman, with a good bit of field trial blood also. The males grandsire was Paucek's Tommyknocker, the grouse trial dog of the year back in approx. 1999. His dam was predominately Ryman-type but of a smaller size line. The male, Shiner, is the sire of the female, Betty. Her mom was a small Ryman type setter. I want to breed Betty the next time she comes into heat (feb) and looking for a suitable sire. Would be easier to just go out and buy a pup, I suppose.

The smaller size is the reason I thought they were Llewellyns. We have a pair of Ryman strain too. Beautiful dogs!! May your game pouch always be full and your Setters on point.
